The match, held at Espanyol's home ground, saw both teams share the spoils in a game that was marked by late drama and tactical battles. The match began with Celta Vigo taking the lead in the 38th minute through Ferran Jutglà (GAP -0.9%), who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put the visitors ahead. Espanyol, however, responded in the second half with Kike Garcia scoring in the 66th minute to level the score. The home side seemed to have secured all three points when Tyrhys Dolan found the net in the 86th minute, but Celta Vigo's Borja Iglesias (GAP -0.5%) had other plans, scoring a crucial equalizer in the 90th minute. Espanyol's manager made five changes during the match, bringing in Urko González de Zárate, Jofre Carreras, Tyrhys Dolan, Kike Garcia, and Ramon Terrats. These substitutions were pivotal, especially with Dolan and Garcia both finding the back of the net. On the other hand, Celta Vigo's head coach also utilized all five substitutions, introducing Ilaix Moriba, Pablo Durán, Óscar Mingueza, Iago Aspas, and Matias Vecino to try and shift the momentum. Williot Swedberg (GAP +3.2%) was a standout performer for Celta Vigo, contributing significantly to their attacking plays and maintaining pressure on Espanyol's defense. This result leaves Espanyol and Celta Vigo in a tightly contested mid-table battle, with both teams looking to improve their standings in the coming weeks. The draw reflects the competitive nature of La Liga this season, where every point is crucial in the fight for European spots and avoiding the relegation zone. What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
